New Haven Community Study, 1959

Summary
Data for this study were obtained from a random sample of registered voters in the New Haven, Connecticut, area interviewed in the summer of 1959. The study focused on political attitudes and behavior of New Haven voters with regard to local politics and community problems. In addition to measures of general political information, interest, participation, and party identification, the respondents were asked detailed questions about their identification of major local problems and degree of involvement, local organizational membership, evaluation of local leaders and degree of contact, and perceived possibilities of personal impact on community problems. The dataset contains information for 525 respondents in the form of 182 variables.
