Detroit Area Study, 1966: Stratified Association and Values in the Urban Community

(Principal Investigator, Laumann, Edward O.)

Summary
A total of 985 white males 21-64 years of age were interviewed in this study. They were asked about their friends, job, leisure time activities and interests, and their attitudes toward certain political issues. The major focus of this study was on the pattern of friendship networks, including, for example, the overlap between social associations and work associations, and the interaction among a common group of friends. Additional information was obtained on home decoration and gestures made during the interview by the respondent.
