ICPSR - Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social
Research
ICPSR is an organization of member institutions working together
to
acquire and preserve social science data, provide open and equitable
access to these data, and promote effective data use. ICPSR's
archive of datasets is one of the largest in the world.
Students, faculty and staff of the University of
Georgia may download datasets directly from the ICPSR
archive. New users must first create a MyData
account from a workstation with a University of Georgia campus IP address
(Athens campus only). Users with a MyData account may then download ICPSR
datasets from any campus IP address as well as off-campus IP addresses.
To create your MyData account go to ICPSR. In upper right open MyData
Options menu and select Edit Account Settings. Then scroll down and click
on the Create Account button. Follow the subsequent steps.
NOTE: Users must continue to log on to their ICPSR MyData account once
every six months
from
a UGA campus IP address to revalidate their MyData account for off-campus
downloads. Users who are unable to log on before leaving campus for
an extended period of time may contact ICPSR User Support at
netmail@icpsr.umich.edu or John Prechtel, the Official Representative at
UGA. ICPSR staff will verify the user's status with the OR and validate
the account for off-campus downloading.
